BLINDSIGHT Reaches

   U.S.

Theaters Beginning in March
            In 2004 a
filmteam had joined Erik Weihenmayer, Sabriye Tenberken and
6 of the
blind students of the BWB project who attempted to climb Lhakpa Ri, a
23,000 feet high peak next to Mount Everest.

            This effort
resulted in a very interesting documentary with amazing footage. Please
find here a description of the film:

             Sabriye
Tenberken, 2006 Mother Theresa Award Winner and 2005 Nobel Peace Prize
nominee, became fascinated with the study of Tibetan culture as a young
blind German woman and created the first Braille text for the Tibetan
language.  She travelled alone to Tibet and
into the frozen Himalayas to find blind children, considered demonic by
their culture, to attend a school she established specially for
them.  She and 6 of her blind students joined world class blind
mountain climber,
Erik Weihenmayer, in an attempt to
summit Lhakpa Ri,
the 23,000 foot peak which rises spectacularly beside Mount Everest.
The resulting 3-week journey is beyond anything any of them could have
predicted.

            Here
is a comment received by an author herself who saw the film last
week in
       Denver
        ,
which captures the essence of BLINDSIGHT's remarkable struggle:

            Great story told so
well.....  But what I keep spinning around in my head is that the
track, drawn out so well, didn’t end with any resolution.  When do
we step in to take control – when do we let go. I read in a number
of articles that BLINDSIGHT is an East meets West or cultural
conflict, but I really identified with it as a parent.  Whenever I
am in a position of authority as a mom or in class teaching,
what I am always struggling with is: where's the line?  What
will the consequences be if I don’t draw it soon enough to keep a
charge safe. Safety equals cutting short the
challenge which equals cutting short the growth,  the
learning, confidence and skills.

entire life.  ....Jeannette

            From an
article in the
    Denver

paper:  BLINDSIGHT pays tribute to the teenagers' high altitude
bravery, but their stories didn't end with their return to flat
ground.  One of the girls is now overseeing Sabriye Tenberken's
school for the blind.  Another has just graduated, first in
her class, from a school that didn't even want to accept her
because she was (blind).  Two of the ex-climbers run the largest
massage therapy clinic in the Tibetan capital,
    Lhasa
    , and another has become
the country's leading Braille publisher.
             Theaters
are being added on a regular basis.  We will provide updates
through our News Releases,  but please go to www.blindsightthemovie.com
for a complete listing.  There is also an exciting 2-minute
preview on the website.
